From Left: Java, Zoe, We make 20 boxes per time/design.

Let me introduce myself! My name is Myunghye Han (MH for short), and I started Paper Russells in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2002, along with my two Jack Russells, Java and Zoe. We wanted to send a congratulations gift to a friend who’s Poodle just had an adorable litter of pups, but we couldn’t find anything fitting to send. This was the inspiration behind creating stationery and gifts for pet lovers. In 2012 we relocated to Ogden, Utah, where we are now enjoying four seasons, close to the beautiful Wasatch Mountains.

We source all of our eco-friendly material from within the USA, including green boxes from Massachusetts, product displays from New Hampshire, and envelopes, frames, bags and more from California.

Paper Russells carries over 1,000 products, including over 500 original illustrations of pets and other animals. To keep all the products available for every order was a massive challenge in the beginning, but we solved it by working with high-quality digital printing companies to create small batches. For example, we produce only 20 Grrreen Boxes of notecards in a particular design at a time, which are then assembled in our studio in Ogden, Utah by human hands.

For the Grrreen Box Notes and Greeting Cards, we use premium 100% recycled (PCW), heavyweight (100LB) cover stock which is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. We also use 100% renewable green electricity and Processed Chlorine Free (PCF) content. Our DogPride and NatureCollection Cards are printed on premium recycled paper that is 30% and 100% PCW content, 80LB cover, acid-free, and produced with electricity offset with certified wind power certificates.

We are proud to offer high-quality USA-based material and small quantity production while keeping our prices competitive with overseas mass-produced products that use inexpensive material and labor. We are able to achieve this goal through streamlined, efficient processes that use cutting-edge technology.
